How to Handle Discouragement

DISCOURAGEMENT ISN’T PARTIAL, IT KNOCKS ON EVERYBODY’S DOOR AND WE ALL GET DISCOURAGED AT TIMES.  IN 1ST SAMUEL, DAVID, WHO WAS A GODLY AND MIGHTY WARRIOR, GOT DISCOURAGED (ALONG WITH EVERYONE AROUND HIM) BUT DAVID ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE LORD.   AS CHRISTIANS, WE DO NOT HAVE THE LUXURY OF STAYING DISCOURAGED.   IT WILL DESTROY US AND BRING DOWN EVERYONE AROUND US.  WHEN YOU ARE DISCOURAGED,  IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING:

*SPEAK LIFE.  Refuse to give into the temptation of speaking negative
or failure.  Remind yourself of what God has blessed you with.

Proverbs 10:11 “The words of the Godly are a life-given fountain…”

*GET A BIGGER PERSPECTIVE.  Remind yourself of the times He has
brought you through before and the good that came from those
situations.  Sometimes God is setting us up for something bigger
and better.   Romans 8:28 “…all things work together for good to

them that love God & are called according to His purpose.”

*ASK GOD.  Rather than coming up with your own solution, ask God for
wisdom and if there is anything you need to be doing at the moment.
James 1:5  “Ask our GENEROUS God, and He will give it to you…”  If

we don’t hear anything; just stand & trust.  (Eph 6:13-14 )

*CHOOSE YOUR THOUGHTS.  Think yourself happy!  Philippians 4:8
“… Fix your thoughts on what is true & good & right.  Think about things
that are pure & lovely and dwell on the fine & good things in others.
Think about all those things you can praise God for and be glad

about.”

DISCOURAGEMENT IS REAL AND IT HAPPENS TO US ALL BUT THE IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT YOU DON’T WANT TO STAY THERE.

Seek Truth

Genuine truth isn’t based on feelings, opinions, nor theories.

Jesus is genuine Truth!

In John 14:6, Jesus declared, “I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life.”

Genuine Truth is revealed in His Word!

When Jesus stood before Pilate He told him, “… I was born and came into the world to testify

to The Truth.  All who love The Truth recognize that what I say is true.” (John 18:37)

Genuine Truth changes hearts.

Genuine Truth changes lives.

Genuine Truth is evident to all who genuinely seek.  (Jeremiah 29:13)
